What is a prop firm?
A prop firm gives you an account to trade and pays you a share of the profit. You bring the strategy. For years that meant a job on a trading floor. Today you can qualify online, from anywhere, for a one-time fee.

How prop trading works
You get an account to trade, and the firm pays you a share of what you make. You never fund the account with your own savings. You pay once to prove you can trade inside the rules, then trade the firm's balance instead of your own.
That deal used to be rare. You needed a seat at a trading firm, usually a finance degree, and a desk in the right city. The online model changed that: pass an evaluation and you trade a funded account from wherever you live. That is what OctoFunded does.
Traditional vs modern prop firms
Both models give you capital to trade and split the profit. Almost everything else is different.
| Traditional prop firm | Modern prop firm (OctoFunded) | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you trade | A trading floor in a financial hub | Anywhere, on the OctoFunded Web terminal with TradingView charts |
| Who gets in | Hand-picked graduates and professionals | Anyone who passes the evaluation, or picks Instant Funded |
| Cost to start | Years of training and a job offer | One evaluation fee, paid once |
| How you are paid | Salary plus a discretionary bonus | 80% of the simulated profit, every 14 days |
| Whose capital | The firm's money, from day one | Simulated capital you trade as your own |

FAQ
Do I trade real money at a prop firm?
Not at OctoFunded. Challenges and funded accounts run on simulated capital in live market conditions. Payouts are calculated from the simulated profit and paid to you, subject to the program rules.
Do I need a finance degree or experience at a bank?
No. Anyone who is eligible in their country can buy a challenge. What matters is trading inside the rules: hit the target without breaking the daily loss or max loss limit.
What does it cost to start?
One fee per challenge, paid once. No subscription and no monthly rebill. On the 1-Step and 2-Step, the fee comes back with your first payout.
How do I get paid?
You receive 80% of the simulated profit, every 14 days, in USDT or USDC. Every payout has a public transaction hash you can check on a block explorer.
Can I use an Expert Advisor?
Yes. EAs are allowed on every OctoFunded program, with the same limits as manual traders, and there is no time limit to hit the target.
