What is instant funding?

Instant funding is a prop firm program that gives you a funded account with simulated capital straight away, with no evaluation phase to pass first. You pay a one-time fee, trade under fixed risk rules from day one, and receive a share of the simulated profit, subject to the program rules. The trade-off is tighter limits than a challenge.

What does instant funding mean?

Instant funding means you skip the test. In a normal prop firm challenge, you trade an evaluation account until you reach a profit target, and only then do you get a funded account. With instant funding, the funded account is the first account you receive.

You still trade inside rules. There is a daily loss limit, a maximum loss and, at many firms, a consistency rule. The difference is that those rules apply to the funded account from the start, instead of to a separate evaluation stage. If you are new to the idea of a funded account, read what a prop firm is first.

The search terms "instant funding", "instant funded account" and "instant funding prop firm" all describe the same thing: a direct route to a funded trading account, paid for with a one-time fee.

How does an instant funded account work?

The mechanics are simple. You pick an account size, pay the fee once, and receive login details for a simulated account. From that moment, every trade counts toward your payout and every loss counts against your limits.

Three things decide whether the account survives:

  • The daily loss limit. A cap on how much you can lose in a single day.
  • The maximum loss. A floor the account must never touch. On a trailing max loss, the floor follows your highest balance upward.
  • The consistency rule. A cap on how much of your total profit can come from one day, often called the best day rule.

Because there is no evaluation phase to filter traders, firms usually set these limits tighter than on a challenge. That is the price of speed: you reach a funded account sooner, but with less room for a bad day.

Instant funding vs a prop firm challenge

Both routes end on a funded account that pays a share of the simulated profit. They differ in how you get there and how much room you have once you arrive.

Instant funding Prop firm challenge
Evaluation phase None One or two phases
First account you trade The funded account An evaluation account
Loss limits The tightest Wider, especially on a 2-Step
Consistency rule Usually stricter Varies by program
Fee refund at OctoFunded No With the first payout
Who it tends to suit Traders with small, steady daily results Traders who need room for drawdowns

What are the rules on an OctoFunded Instant Funded account?

OctoFunded runs an Instant Funded program next to its 1-Step and 2-Step challenges. There is no evaluation phase, no time limit, and Expert Advisors are allowed. The limits below are shown in percent and, as an illustration only, on a $100,000 simulated account.

Rule Instant Funded On an illustrative $100,000 account
Evaluation phase None None
Daily loss limit 3% $3,000
Max loss 6% trailing Floor starts at $94,000 and rises with new highs
Best day cap 20% of total profit With $10,000 of total profit, no day above $2,000
Profit split 80% $8,000 of a $10,000 simulated profit
Fee refund No No

The exact way each limit is measured is published in the program rules. For the trailing floor, read trailing drawdown explained and static vs trailing drawdown.

Worked example. A trader on an illustrative $100,000 Instant Funded account risks $500 per trade. Four losing trades in one session cost $2,000, which leaves $1,000 of room under the $3,000 daily limit. Seven losing trades would cost $3,500, break the limit and end the account. The same risk per trade that is comfortable on a 2-Step can be too large here, which is why position size matters more on instant funding than anywhere else. The daily loss limit guide shows how that room is calculated.

The best day cap works the same way in reverse. If your strongest day made $1,500, your total profit needs to reach at least $7,500 for that day to be within 20%. A few large days do not fit this program. Many smaller, similar days do.

How to get an instant funded account at OctoFunded

1

Pick Instant Funded

Choose an account size of simulated capital and pay the one-time fee in crypto. No evaluation phase.

2

Trade inside the limits

3% daily loss, 6% trailing max loss and a 20% best day cap, tracked live on your dashboard. No time limit. EAs allowed.

3

Request a payout

80% of the simulated profit, every 14 days, in USDT or USDC with a public transaction hash, subject to the program rules.

Payouts are sent on-chain, so you can check each one yourself. See how to verify a payout transaction hash and USDT payouts at a prop firm. The fee is paid in crypto too, as explained in paying for a prop firm challenge with crypto.

Who is instant funding suited to?

Instant funding tends to suit traders whose results already look like the rules: small daily swings, tight stops and profit spread across many sessions. If your equity curve rarely drops more than a fraction of a percent in a day, a 3% daily limit is room, not pressure.

It tends not to suit traders who swing trade with wide stops, who hold through deep pullbacks, or whose month is made by one or two big days. For them, a 2-Step with a 10% static max loss, or a 1-Step with a 50% best day cap, usually fits better. A prop firm challenge also returns the fee with the first payout at OctoFunded, which Instant Funded does not, as covered in prop firm challenge fee refund.

Automated strategies can run on any OctoFunded program. If you trade with an EA, check that its worst day fits a 3% limit before you choose instant funding. See a prop firm that allows EAs.

What to check before you buy an instant funded account

Instant funding offers differ a lot between firms. Before you pay, read the rules for these five points:

  1. How the daily loss is measured. From the start-of-day balance, from equity, or from the initial balance. The base changes how much room you have.
  2. How the max loss trails. Whether it follows closed balance or open equity, and whether it ever stops rising.
  3. The consistency rule. The cap, and when it is checked. A 20% best day cap means at least five days of similar profit. The consistency rule guide explains the variants.
  4. Time limits. OctoFunded has no time limit, but not every firm works that way.
  5. Payout terms. The split, the cycle and how payouts are sent.

When the rules fit how you already trade, instant funding is a short path to a funded account. When they do not, a challenge gives you more room. You can compare all three programs on the pricing section.

FAQ

What is an instant funded account?

An instant funded account is a funded account you trade from the first day, without passing a challenge first. At OctoFunded it runs on simulated capital, with a 3% daily loss limit, a 6% trailing max loss and a 20% best day cap, and pays an 80% profit split, subject to the program rules.

Is instant funding better than a prop firm challenge?

Neither is better for everyone. Instant funding removes the evaluation phase but uses the tightest limits and has no fee refund at OctoFunded. A 1-Step or 2-Step challenge takes longer to reach a funded account but gives you more room to lose and returns the fee with the first payout.

Do instant funded accounts use real money?

Not at OctoFunded. Instant Funded accounts run on simulated capital in live market conditions. Payouts are calculated from the simulated profit and paid to you in USDT or USDC, subject to the program rules.

Can I lose an instant funded account?

Yes. If you break the 3% daily loss limit or the 6% trailing max loss, the account ends. The best day cap of 20% of total profit also applies. The full rules, including how each limit is checked, are listed in the OctoFunded program rules.

Is the fee refunded on an instant funded account?

No. At OctoFunded, Instant Funded has no fee refund. The fee refund with the first payout applies only to the 1-Step and 2-Step challenges.
